About Craniosacral system
Cranio referring to the bony vault that protects the brain. Sacral is a triangular bone at the base of spine.
The Craniosacral system consists of cranial bones, meningeal membranes, cerebrospinal fluid that surrounds and protects the brain and spinal cord. It extends from the bones of the skull down to the tailbone area.
This craniosacral system has its pathological significance and healing capabilities, it influences and is influenced by a variety of other body systems.
At a deep level of our physiological functioning, healthy living tissues have subtle breathing with the motion of life – a phenomenon that produce rhythmic impulse from craniosacral system which can be palpated by sensitive hands.
This subtle rhythm of the craniosacral system was discovered by Osteopath physician Dr. William Sutherland over 100 years ago and further developed by Osteopath physician Dr. John Uperledge who incorporated them into a treatment call Craniosacral Therapy.
What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle hands-on technique to release the restrictions around the brain and spinal cord, to evaluate and enhance the functions of the craniosacral system.
Tensions and restrictions anywhere in our body can interfere with the flow of the craniosacral system. An imbalance or restriction in the craniosacral system could potentially be the cause of a wide range of illness especially associated to the nerve system, neurological problems, and emotional or mental ailments.
Craniosacral therapy is an effective form of therapy for a wide range of health problems, encouraging vitality and is beneficial for people of all ages including babies, children and elderly.
