About Breast Pain

Breast pain is the feeling of pain in or around the breast. Breast pain may be felt in one breast or both. Medical names for breast pain are mastalgia, or mastodynia.

Breast pain and other discomfort symptoms are common complaints among women and makes women worried about a possible risk of breast cancer.

Breast pain could range from minor discomfort to severe, and from chronic tenderness to sharp burning pain. Breast pain may be persistent, may occur occasionally or the pain could come and go like mystery.

Breast pain is not the only symptoms you may experience, there are many other symptoms may occur with the breast such as breast swelling, warmth, burning, numb, tingling, colored discharges, milk blockage during breast feeding, breast lumps, breast fibrosis, or feeling of pressure in breast.

Breast pain and other symptoms could happen to women of all ages.  Breast tenderness may occur during puberty, menstrual, pregnancy, breast-feeding or menopause, for many of women may think it is a normal reaction to having breast tenderness but that is not always the case.  The characters of the breast tenderness could be assessed and the symptoms could be helped.

Causes of Breast Pain

Causes of breast pain could be from many contributing factors, such as injury to breast, injury to chest, surgery, trauma, medications, breast cancer, or shingles.

There are no muscles in the breasts, but there are muscles under the breasts and between the ribs. Sometimes the problems within these muscular structures under the breasts could cause breast pain and other unpleasant symptoms.

Poor posture, aging process, emotional trauma, anxiety, stress, diet, and life style could contribute increasing stress on these muscles and other soft tissues that may cause breast pain.
